Lobster Season Dates

The two-day Sport Lobster Season is always the last consecutive Wednesday and Thursday in July. The Season begins at 12:01 am on the last Wednesday in July and ends at 12:00 midnight on the last Thursday in July.

There are many regulations and limitations you must be aware of, and you can always find the most up-to-date and reliable information at www.myfwc.com.

We will also have copies of the regulations in the Marina Office and at Cuda Bait & Tackle. Be aware that each municipal area may have different regulations regarding where you may dive for lobster.

Coast Guard Safety

The US Coast Guard regularly makes safety stops of boats in the waters around the
Florida Keys.

Some of the things they will check are that you have all required safety gear and that your flares are not expired, and that all children are wearing safety vests and that there are enough safety vests for all people on board. As a boat owner (“captain” for this purpose), you are ultimately responsible for the safety of your passengers and must be in compliance with all regulations.

They have a wonderful web site, www.uscgboating.org, which will provide you with the knowledge you need for a safe and happy day on your boat.

Float Plan

Tavernier Creek Marina highly recommends that you file a float plan with a friend before leaving the dock. In the event of any problem, the faster a search starts, the more likely it is that people will be found if their boat capsizes or breaks down.
